Toldot Yisrael
Toldot Yisrael's mission is a big and vital one: to create a video archive of testimonies from members of Israel's "founding generation," the Israelis and Diaspora volunteers who participated in the founding of the State of Israel in 1948.
Founded by Aryeh Halivni, and with an advisory board that includes noted academics, Jewish leaders, and the former CEO of the Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation, Toldot Yisrael is in a race against time to record these first-hand stories. In addition to the video testimonies themselves, Toldot Yisrael will create an interactive database and searchable archive of the testimonies, which Israel's National Library has expressed an interest in housing. The footage will also be developed into a website, films and educational material. Natan's grant is for general operating support, as Toldot Yisrael begins to record and process its first large batch of interviews. |
