Jewish Heart for Africa

Jewish Heart for Africa

Jewish Heart for Africa (JHA) seeks to improve the quality of life in Africa through active projects utilizing Israeli expertise and technology, thereby both alleviating poverty and improving Israel's image in the developing world. Sivan Achor-Borowich founded JHA in 2008, after having lived and worked in Africa for many years.

Alongside its field work in Africa, JHA also produces thought-provoking social events for young Jewish professionals in New York City, to raise global awareness and to demonstrate that helping Africa is consistent with core Jewish values. Natan's grant is for general operating support.

JHA's first initiative, "Project Sol," leverages Israel's expertise in solar technology by financing and installing solar technology to supply electricity for water pumping systems, lighting, and medical refrigeration to villages in Tanzania, Uganda, and Ethiopia.
