Institute of Southern Jewish Life

The Institute of Southern Jewish Life (ISJL) preserves and strengthens Jewish life across the South. The ISJL reaches out to small and large Jewish communities in twelve Southern states, offering a wide array of innovative, region-specific services: a circuit-riding rabbi and itinerant educators for communities without their own clergy and staff; a non-denominational, preschool through high school curriculum for supplementary religious schools; and high-level Jewish cultural programming for communities that cannot attract or afford these resources on their own.

Natan's grants to the ISJL support the Itinerant Educator program, where young educators travel to the 49 communities using the ISJL curriculum to help train and inspire the schools' professional and lay teachers.
